There's no generic answer, it's down to the individual girl in question. Confidence and being comfortable in yourself are more noticeable and attractive than clothes.

ok kool cheers for getting back

iv noticed that girls tend to look at you and look at what your wearing ( not entirely ) and if your confident thats a plus but as for me i tend to be optimistic and look at them and look away because i get an image that they would laugh at me or something if i said alryt or something haha i know im not the dark skinned lad or strappin tall and fit but i just want to try more than anything with being comfortable with me self and thats when i dress in nice cloths but thats why i asked this question about what they would generally like

    Personally I dislike (to put it mildly) the following on men;

    skinny jeans (sorry :D)
    spiked up fringes
    Patterns shaved into heads
    Silly emo floppy fringes
bleached hair or frosted tips (seriosuly men should not care about their hair that much)
Checked shirts esp when tucked into rotten jeans with black shoes (you know the sort I mean)
    Rugby shirts
Anything with the collar turned up screams redneck or jock to me
Those horrible grey sweat pants that college boys love so dearly
    Trackies in general
    Diamonte earrings *shudder*
    Nike airs
Tribal or chinese tattoos how original
T shirts that make comments about boobs or sex (grow up lads)
Clothes with big logos but inparticular sports ones that are trying to make a statement about how expensive their clothes are
Designer jocks I find particularly disturbing
    Tighty whities
Man socks in general, dunno why they're generally just not nice :D
Oh oh and sandals or flip flops yuck!

hahaha im on none of that list accept skinny jeans but i should really realy state that they arent skinny skinny like bet on i think there more like straight ( the topman skinny jeans r like straight jeans but more fitted) haha

but i say some girls are the same as you i never wear tracksuit bottoms when out maybe in the house or when out having a lick about with the lads but not to shop or what ever

Follow these two rules and you'll be fine:

    1.) Don't look like a slob.
    and
    2.) Don't look like a spa.

This one has me a little confused. Could you elaborate or show a picture? Do you mean vertical striped shirts? Personally I think check shirts can look great! What are "rotten" jeans exactly?

Black dress-shoes with jeans are bad now?

No I mean checked alright, they can look good imo but it's very rare:

    builder-checked-shirt-leah-anne-thompson-istockphoto.jpg

And I mean he only just about pulls that hideous shirt off because I'm too busy looking elsewhere :pac: Actually the one guy that stands out that can pull this look off is Dermot o Leary who used to host big brother. Thats probably a lot to do with his charisma though he could probably pull a lot of things off that would look sh*te on most others.

    dermot_o%27leary_2523338.jpg

Really bad pick to make my point with but I got bored of looking! :pac:

Go out around town on a saturday night and you just see hordes of lads wearing cheap checked shirts of one sort or another generally tucked into really manky straight cut jeans (wrangler or levi??) and then black brogue type things (maybe with a buckle on them??) Couldn't really find a picture but this sort of shirt and its many varients:

    Nudie_Ove_SS_Check_Shirt_Red_White.jpg

It's almost like a going out on the pull uniform it's so common about the place on the weekends. I dunno it looks really awful to me and it's usually a certain type of fella that wears it (the sort who often goes to the worst nightclubs in town and wears way too much aftershave). It's hard to explain what I mean I used to live in a flat on the mainstreet in Cork city so I did a lot of people watching and opinion forming :D

This is just my opinion though I'm sure plenty of women love it the same way plenty of men love women dresses up in god awful sh*t I wouldn't be caught dead in.

Sorry to be prying but I have to ask - do you live out in "deh sticks" - I didn't know people still dressed like that, HAS to be a bogger thing

This is great. I generally tend to recoil from people who commit any of the above offences. Not sure what you mean by man socks though. Everybody wears socks. I can't stand lads who don't wear socks! Unless it's in Morocco or somewhere like that.

I also hate those red deck jackets, anyone know the ones I'm on about? They wear them to work. Some weird mania gripped a whole section of the office labour force compelling them to buy these jackets

Lol no I didn't mean I like guys not to wear socks but that guys socks aren't are nice or comfy as girls! They often tend to be ribbed which I don't like and I hate the ones with that golf style print of diamonds on them!

This the kinda look i like...smart casual. Hate shoes with jeans (Dermot just pulls off the brown ones above), unless its a suit. Loooove suits on men!

I like catterpillar boots and smart runners/trainers. I dont mind hoodies and tshirts etc if theyre just for sports. Hate a guy wearing a t shirt for a sat night out.

Love v neck jumpers with shirt of t shirts underneath. Dont like tight fitted v necked tops with nothing underneath.

    No skinny jeans or trousers...ever!

I completely agree with Sapsorrow's list and will add the following -

Those runners that kinda look like football boots, they're usually white too and are just hideous. You're not Torres and wearing those things won't bring you any closer to being him!

Actually, football jerseys annoy me too unless there's a match on then it's fine.
Men who just wear footbal jerseys on any given day look tacky to me.

Polo t-shirts. I hate these so much. They make me think of stuck up muppets who dine with mummy and daddy at the golf club on Sundays.

Any 'funny' t-shirts unless it's very witty and original but things like 'Beer goes in here' with an arrow pointing at the tummy make me cringe!

Those brown suede ones? Not a fan, they are a bit mid-'90's boyband for me

Kinda like these? I like em with loose-ish jeans and nice casual shirt.

That is absolute codswallop. Men's sock are way more comfortable. I hate those really thin socks, I like a good thick sock. My Ma always knew better than to buy me those flimsy, tight-like socks back in the day. Actually she still buys me socks, and pringle seem to have the market cornered these days. I don't like the diamond socks either, unless they are really old school. Would never wear a real chavvy pair of diamond socks

:D still though if you were intoboy bands as a little girl or young teenager back in the 90s it probably would influence your tastes somewhat and they were all at it back then!

You wouldn't believe how quicly I was able to find those photos either :pac:

And for the hell of it cos it's hillarious...

I think it's down to individual guys and their particular style, really.
It's fine to say you hate skinny jeans on guys, I generally do, but I've met some guys who actually look pretty good in them.
Some guys are able to pull them off because they have the right look and it suits them.

Generally, I hate logo t-shirts too. I don't mind plain t-shirts, but ones with crude logos are just stupid.
I also dislike guys in awful striped shirts with hundreds of colours ... It can just look brash and tacky.
Oh, and those Russell Brand-esque black boots where the pointed toe extends out for miles! :pac:

I prefer guys in a nice pair of jeans and simple coloured t-shirts or shirts. Classic, but it works.

I like to dress up in renaissance style clothes. Does this work for you?
