    Hi all,
    Buying a new car privately and when I went to pick it up tonight the owner couldn't find the VLC for the car.

    He said he's going to fill in the forms and bring them to the Motor Tax Office tomorrow etc... does anyone know how long a replacement would take to be issued??

    Really need a car soon and wondering if they issue there and then like they do the tax disc??

    If he cannot find it he must pay €10 or so to request a new one from Shannon before you can change ownership.

    Hold off on the purchase until you are sure he owns it & until you can get your name on the new owner section.

    I'd suggest wariness unless you know the seller well.
