    Hi guys,

My brother is about to start looking for cover gigs in pubs etc around Dublin - he'll be playing the usual standard solo acoustic cover set (around 2 hrs) but isn't sure how much he can expect to be paid...or rather how much he should ask for these days.

He has his own PA and will be playing acoustic guitar and singing. He said someone told him they were getting aroud €200-€250 a gig for a similar set up to his but that was a couple of years ago - someone else recently told him to expect only €60 which wouldn't be worth it for him.

Could anyone suggest a rough guide of what to expect?

    Thanks a million

Was doin a 2 piece for a while and was getting between 150 and 250 so i'd say 150-200
We were very good and were told by people to ask for more but we went cheap to get more work. it worked

Im Paying an excellent two piece €250 - 3 pieces are hitting €300 Normally, I pay most solo's around €120 - €160 - Based in wexford so I dont know bout Dublin but I going to seriously cut these guys because it just isnt worth it any-more for the publican, Also Make sure he gets registered with imro - and paying vat - if he's caught (and revenue are going mental over this this year) He'l be taken to the cleaners.

I played one man gigs and got 200 for it. That was 3yrs ago though! These days the money has gone down to about 150 I think. Tell your brother not to undersell himself and price himself high enough so the publican knows he's getting a proper professional musician to play.
