guys i need an inexpensive quality string library for a project.

needs to be modern sounding but real (its not quite pop enough for a string machine) and quality but doesnt need to be full blown.

ive checked out LA scoring and it is stunning but its a little over the top for my current needs (and budget)

    any recomendations?

    thanks thumb.gif

    too expensive.

i need an all in one for about half that price.

doesnt have to be pristine orchestral quality just well sampled.

    So like 40 euro?

have you tried any of the free orchestral soundfonts? I used to use one that was decent, cant remember the name though.

    Just purely string library?

Have you tried East West, String Essentials? VSL do a few string packs but depending on what you want it can add up, something like their Special Edition or Solo Strings might work for you.

had a look at VSL solo which was an option but was looking to shop around. not crazy on EW at all.

looks like its between vsl solo and kirk hunter solo. decisions decisions

EWQL Symphonic Silver? prob cheap enough now, but some sounds have a small reverb on that isnt the nicest?!?

In my opinion the solo strings are def quite good, esp at that price.

What about Garritan GPO4 - you get the whole orchestra! Strings have keyswitched articulations and there is good realtime control of volume / attack / sustain.
The Garritan Forum at Northern Sounds has a number of demos on their "listen" page that will blow your socks off at the price they are asking. David Sosnowski is one of the guys there that posts fantastic pieces.
