Netbook - Eee PC 900 replacement

Are there any netbooks still out there using flash memory as their main storage? All I can find at the minute are standard laptop drives.

I have a relation who wants to replace her current Eee PC 900 with something similar, 9" screen, hard disk that is not prone to physical damage as I know she will wreck it otherwise.

I was thinking of getting a netbook and replacing the hard disk with an ssd but she prefers the smaller form factor of the 9" screen over the 10" due to regular plane journeys etc.

Any suggestions on this would be welcome. Thanks.

I went through the exact same thing recently. I wanted a 901 replacement - 9" screen and Linux installed. Had to "settle" for a Samsung NC210.
Couldn't for the life of me find a modern netbook that didn't have Windows 7.

Wasn't worried about the Hard Disk. If you manage to physically damage your hard disk, you are probably going to damage other components, so don't think a SSD will solve that problem. Besides, I have heard that Windows performs poorly with SSD's

I suspect I'll probably just have to find an older 901 or equivalent older one.

The NC210 might be an option too. Thanks for that suggestion. Personally I'd be happy using the latest ubuntu but you guessed right that she wouldn't use it once its non-windows.. Tried it before and no joy. Of course she also hates windows 7 so its xp only which could be fun getting that sorted out.

Win7 will have about a half an hour of a learning curve coming from xp. IMO it's going to have to happen eventually. So it may as well be now!
