    Hi guys,

I am working over in NZ and am looking at a 2003 Nissan 350Z.

I know pretty much all there is know about the car...

I negotiated with an owner whos is selling one........15,000 NZ Dollars.....it has 200,000 Ks on the clock...but has been fully serviced at a Nissan garage and most of k's is highway mileage. (auckland to wellington).....everything checks out and the car is excellent condition.

Question: Would the K's put off anybody here ?

That's 124k miles. While that's not insanely high, it's approaching the somewhat high for a 7 year old car.
That comes out at about 8,400 euro which seems about right if you were to buy that car in Ireland (if not a little cheaper), not sure about NZ obviously.

As long as it's been serviced regularly, I don't think the mileage should be a big issue as they're so reliable, especially the engine (even at high miles).

I've only had a couple of minor previous-owner related electrical issues in mine since I got it 2 years ago.

If it were me though, I probably wouldn't go with that mileage unless the price was just too good. But that's just my opinion and my over-paranoia.

The cheapest on carzone is 12k, but the milage on it scares me, 16k miles in 7 years!

Its a Jap V6, i've never heard of any reliability issues with the Z, I would say if its well looked after she should run forever! I wouldn't let the milage put me off

I'm never afraid of mileage if you can have a good look around the car and make sure any perishables have been replaced at the right time. Car companies design for 150,000miles as a minimum so you're usually ok. I've had cars with over 185k on the clock that drove as well as 50k mile cars.

I absolutely love my Zed, and though its got a lot less miles, ones I test drove with high miles on before buying were generally just as good. If you buy an import in the UK, you're never really guaranteed to know the true mileage anyway so get it checked over and it will probably be fine. Get yourself on nissansportz.com and run it by them...its a great Zed forum.

By the way, you will find you made a great decision when you get it!! You'll mainly look like this when driving, :D though not so green!

I dont know how different it is in NZ compared to Oz, but up here, cars with high milage seem to just be in better nick than the equivalent in Ireland. Im sure its all to do with the climate being better on the bodywork.

Personally, Id be looking around to see if you can find one with less milage for a little more.

Any high milers ive owned have just caused problems in the long run.
Have you looked up nissan owners clubs / forums to see if there are any milage related weaknesses eg. clutch, gearbox, bushings and bearings?

Thanks for all the input guys........

The guy was selling it for 19K NZ ( alot but if he thinks its worth that much...that is positive) but i got him down to 15K. I thought about it and offered 12.5 which he didnt accept. I will wait a week and see if he comes back to me.

Its NZ new which is great as there are alot of Jap imports around and i would rather have an NZ new car. The cheaper the better as i am prone to bang my cars against poles etc and i want it for the driving experience but dont want the worry about the cost of fixing scratches etc..

I will update with more news as it comes.....

Will check out the forums for any issues with high milers..

p.s. -> dont u just love nz. :) ...minimum tax/insurance is 380 dollars a year ( only 3rd party person )......yep...that is all i pay for my tax and insurance combined !!.......

(p.s. anyone else think that teh new 370z is absolutely gorgeous...the convertible , to me, looks like a 'super car' )

The sooner people stop saying that the better.

Renault used a Nissan engine (in the Espace + others). Not the other way around.

And no it's not the same engine as the Clio.

    Yes! :)

Best of luck with the car if you get it. It'd probably be much more enjoyable over there I imagine for a variety of reasons (especially the monetary ones..!).
