Is the Sun's Campaign Incitement to Hatred?

Henri cheated, The FFF shrugged their shoulders, and FIFA are smiling all the way to the bank. But what gives the, so called, "Irish Sun", the right to advertise and give away "Anyone but the French" tee shirts in a country not known for this kind of attitude. Looking at no one in particular!

What about French people visiting, or living in this country. At best I think this is the Sun hoping for a "Paddy's support England" headline, if the French & England progress, but it smells a bit more like Incitement to Hatred to me. Am I reading this wrong or should the Gardai be involved here?

Thanks for switching over from Motors

    It's pathetic.

Some people need to build a bridge.

Seriously... what, exactly, did you expect from the sun? Sportsmanship, honesty and morality...?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Are we not talking about The Irish Sun here, do they not have an Irish editorial etc ?

Sun readers won't need a huge amount of encouragement to adopt this kind of attitude.

I'd have to say I'm sure the campaign is more in reference to the French team than French people. Some people will use it as an excuse for a ruck though.

The funny thing that a sizeable proportion of French people are disgusted by how they got there and won't be supporting them.

    Im two ways about this.

I fcuking hope the Italians lose it, and lose it badly. They (The Team) were in the last Cup a band of thieves and drama queens.

Thats not racist, I like the Italians. But the choice of athletes they sent to the grass to represent their country acted in a despicable and unsporting manner.

The question is are these shirts racist or are they simply in direction to The Cup and the Team that represents France?

They're not the worst but they're not among the nicest either.

First off, Henry is not a cheat. There is no such thing as cheating in the rulebook of football - there are rules & there are foul play and there is also unsporting behaviour, but not cheating. Cheating is a term that people use who really don't understand football. What Henry did, was commit an offense which the referee didn't see. It happens all the time. Anyone who understands football knows that.

Secondly, Ireland do not deserve to be in the World Cup. We arguably, deserved to have the game against France go to extra time & possibly penalties, but this was no guarantee that we would have qualified. In my opinion, we should not have even had to play this match, as if the team had had any balls, they'd have beaten Montenegro at home & away, Bulgaria at home and Italy at home, thus securing our position at the top of the table & qualifying without the need for a play off. Most of the country paid no interest at all in the qualifying campaign, until the away leg against France, where we were never going to get the run of the green. Anybody who understands football knows that.

And lastly, these tee-shirts are obviously been trucked out to the plastic paddies who's only interest in Irish football is the occasional big match, who actually believe Henry is a cheat & probably couldn't name one player off the Irish team, bar Robbie Keane. Anybody who knows understands football knows that.

And The Sun is a rag. Everybody knows that.

That's pretty much the point. Why take it out on "The French" people as this seems to be suggesting? We are not that petty. Couldn't make it to Paris but I was at Croke park. God what a crap night that was. I will say this though. I actually would rather be at home lamenting our lack of qualification than be going to the Cup with everyone shouting cheat at us.

Why is that relevant? Cheating is definied as defeating someone through trickery or deceit.
