they dont seem to be as good for milk yields as british friesan cows .
300 would be a bit high for the heifer calfs as there are good quality belgian blue cross bull calves being sold for 300 euros.

But thats another game, dairy heifers are scarce, imo montys are a better choice in a a+b-c era. montys great for solids protein is what pays the bills:D

the top black and whites with good solids are better than montbelierde for protein and fat , they are also more efficent at turning food into milk , oh and they have much better temprements than the pig ignorant montys

I bought a orange with white face CH heifer calf out of a Montebeliarde cow .. no experience of this breed .. any suckler men have experience of this cross?

Had them years ago, very good cows as they have good traits from the CH, & good milk ability from the MO.
Know a guy who uses these cows in organic farming crossed with the AA, calves have good weights & growth

I didn't think that there was many dairy lads that would put a char on a Freisan cow as kinda risky calving etc

We had a Ch x Fr here and was a great cow .. Put height into them and had milk .. Great x back to char or limo

Yea probably not many in recent years.
I remember uncles who were Dairy farming borrowing the CH to mop up the last few cows (mid 90's), doubt many current dairy guys would borrow the LM now
