I bought an MP4 player on E Bay (Hong Kong seller) on 7th May and got delivery today only to find that it stopped working after a couple of hours. I decide to contact the seller and when I clicked on the link I had stored for the item I got this message
This listing (XXXXXXXXXX) has been removed, or this item is not available.
(I replaced the item number with xxx's btw)

Please tell me Im wrong but does this look like the seller has had his account closed on E Bay?

The listing was likely removed, though the seller may still be registered. Check your emails to find the seller, and see if they're still there.

Depending on the cost, it may not be worth your while chasing this up. You'll have to return the defective item by registered post, at your expense, and even then you may not get a refund.

Thanks jor el. I searched using both the account name and the item number and both are drawing blanks. I know from a previous experience that E Bay wont give any details in relation to the seller. I thinks its fairly safe to assume that the account has been closed by either the seller or E Bay. The guy had a large number of sales with something like 99.3% positive feedback.

The item was €38 so Im assuming that it shouldn't cost too much to return it - Im guessing around 8 - 10 euro but I honestly haven't a clue. I have sinc sent an email to the seller so I may wait a couple of days to see if he replies or not.

Not trying to be clever here but it never ceases to amaze me how many people still buy electrical goods from the Far East and then have a problem. Apart from the unreliability problems often associated with these goods, and suppliers, there is always going to be the problem of returning defective items or having them repaired. I always buy my electrical goods in Ireland - from a reputable dealer (local if possible) and somebody that I can easily return defective goods to. I find that even if the initial purchase is considerably dearer, in the long term it can work out cheaper. I recently had to return a child's CD player for replacement three times (!) to a local retailer - no problems. Just my tuppence worth. :)

Start a Paypal dispute and see if there's any response from the seller. Might work, might not.
