Hay guys so Ive got the a long summer brake due to college and Im looking for something interesting to do, I came across a Mauy Thai camp on an island called Koh Tao in the south east of Thailand I have no previous experience with this martial art and Im really just looking for something to keep me fit during the summer while learning a new martial art in a nice country.

here is a link to the package company for the holiday:

    http://www.xtremegapyear.co.uk/programme/asia-muay-thai-training-koh-tao-thailand_35

So I guess Im wondering does anyone here have previous experience of such a holiday or know anything about this camp. If you have done a holiday like this before please leave us a link to a website or some details about it if you reccomend going. Its pretty diffecult to work out if these places are genuine or as a they seem from photos I cant really find any reviews.

    Cheers for any help

What's included in that money? Sounds like a proper rip off.

Looks pricey alright! I'm heading over to Koh Tao in June myself and we have some training lined up. Will dig out details of place / deal we got.

everyone says the package looks like a rip-off, I took a look at the offical training camp page I think it works out slightly cheaper then their package
;65972759]Accommodation etc over there is not like the price is set in stone, if you say you want to stay for a month and are offering cash they'll do you a good deal. Just that looks expensive. Say training twice a day for a month would be 150/175 euro and accommodation 200 a month, depending what you are after. Thats 475, less if your sharing or want to slum it. And you live very cheaply there too. I wasnt even in very far out places and thats about what I spent. Just be wary of the commercial places. And I wouldnt waste my money paying for one on one, if you get up early for the morning classes you are likely to get 1 to 1 anyway for what you paid for standard.
thanks man for the help ya Im looking at keeping it as cheap as I can probally 1 or 2 friends coming along aswell, looking to go for about 6 to 8 weeks if it works out right

Mate some one is pulling your leg with those prices.

The camp pictured is Island muay thai on koh tao, i trained there last summer and even walk up prices were only 300baht a go(about 7 euro)

So for what xtremegapyear are charging you could train 3 times a day, for 3 month, even paying the highest rate that the trainers there charge(You'll get much better if you pay for lessons in bulk up front)

Now, that said; koh tao is fantastic(the diving is awesome) its a great camp and i highly recommend it, but just go by yourself and arrange a price rather then book some package.

Also if you are serious about having a fight over there, do it against another westerner, because the ones i watched where it was westerner vs thai appeared to be fixed.

Yeah the food is great value. Accomdation less so(still really cheap by our standards) and very expensive if you want a room/hut with air-con because the island isnt connected to the mainland elec supply.

Koh tao is geared towards divers(the boring ****ers are everywhere), and the dive schools have arrangments with all the hotels so divers get cheaper rates.
