    Hello Folks,

I have a problem with an EMS amber light on constantly on my 2.5 V6 Jaguar. I brought it to a main Ford dealer who failed to diagnose the problem. He turned the light off but it came back on straightaway.

    The car is driving fine.

Any ideas how to switch it off?

    Regards,

I would be more interested in finding out why its coming up rather than just looking to turn it off. Its coming up for a reason. Given that EML issues are emissions related and not fixing an issue could impact on the likes of cat life I'd focus on why.

What was the OBD error code that Ford cleared?

    Hello Mullingar,

I THINK that it was B1946. They found the number below and above on some site.

Any other suggestions on what might be causing it or how to solve it would be welcome.

B1946 = Climate Control A/C Post Evaporator Sensor Circuit Failure

Can you ring the garage to see what code it was (they may have stored in on the mechanics work-sheet)??

    Hello Mullingar,

I went back to the garage and they tell me that the code was actually P1647.

    Sorry about the wrong code.

Any help / suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks,

    Hello Folks,

I checked the fault on the internet.

P1647 Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 2)

Any idea hoe much these are and where to get them?

    Regards,

The first hit in google for P1647 gave me this link:

    http://enginelighthelp.informe.com/jaguar-s-type-c-p1647-linear-o2-sensor-control-chip-bank-2-dt5.html

    Where somebody posted:
This code can be set for either a short to ground, short to power, high resistance or open circuit on Oxygen Sensor for bank 2, (HO2S21). Bank 2 is on your right when standing at the front of the engine facing the crank, and this sensor is the first in line; before the converters. Check out our circuit testing article at www.engine-light-help.com/check-engine-light-circuit-testing.html for help with testing. From what I can tell the wires from that sensor are RED/WHT, WHT/RED, GRN, BRN. I would recommend checking related wiring for opens, shorts or chaffing before condemning the sensor.

You have 3 choices for replacement:

    1. Genuine part from Dealer €200 + each (guess here)
    2. Non-Genuine from Motor factor €100 (another guess)
    3. Universal €50 (No connector with it, so old connector needs to be soldered on)
