I have just normal hiking experience. I am quite athletic, so do you think its ok do go on via ferrata wihtout climbing experience?

You need all the kit for Via-ferrata to be able to clip into the wires generally it is safe enough if you know what you are doing, but if you have to ask a question like you just did id say get a guide or a mate with climbing experience to show you what to do.
Its cheap enough for a guide and gear in France id say Slovenia is cheap enough too.

When I did it everyone had a spare rope. If you fall on the petzl via ferrata lanyard thing you should not fall on it again. We also brought a hand jammer to allow us to lift ourselves if needed. I do not know enough about Via Ferrata to advise you on training.
