I know it's a while away but i think this could be the match of the summer, France played excellent against them in November and was a tough one for the Springboks to take and will have revenge on their mind, Bakkies Botha will miss the game aswell.

13.00 Sky Sports 1. A bumper day of Rugby on Sky starting with Ireland All Blacks at 08.35.

Think I'll be supporting France for this one although it's difficult to choose between the two most arrogant teams in World rugby. I think seeing the Boks fans crowing during the Welsh game was the deciding factor for me this time. :D

Yeah would like to see the Saffas taken down a peg too. I think the French are without Jauzion and Hari and so much of what they do runs through them so it could be tough. France by 2.

The French have that aristocratic arrogance which they've had for a thousand years so you'd forgive them that, the Saffers are just a bunch of female genitalia.

France have a surprisingly good record against the Boks only losing 2 of the last 9 games.

I'm hoping for a French win. On form they really are a fantastic team to watch. They can bully sides up front and then just pass the ball out and the backs will do something amazing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Jauzion out, Mermoz in. Christ that's depth.

Really looking forward to this, hoping for a French win for the same reasons as Risteard. They have a better team on paper.

Marty vs Fourie is a big battle at 13. They've both been awesome for their clubs sides this season.

I hope the French hammer them. I love seeing those saffers lose. Only really started hating them after seeing Monty, but Burger's gouging, PDV's general bull**** etc. just added to my hatred.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Everyone hates a winner. I'll be patriotic and support the Boks as usual.

I'll also be shouting for the Irish against the ABs.

Hopefully it won't be as one sided as the Ireland - NZ match. Dunno who I'm up for really.

What the the hell is this!? It's like they're tackled but somehow someone else gets the ball and runs with it. Do they have different rules than we have?

    Lovely try.

Is there anything he can't do?

Some ridiculous play from SA, quite a tonic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

One way traffic for the mighty boks so far.

    Waiting for the French backlash.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    score?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

17-0 after 12 minutes to the boks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Try to Spies within 2 minutes and try to Aplon. 2 conversions and a peno to Steyn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,373 ✭✭✭ongarite

Going to be 20-0 now. Never seen the French steam rolled like this in quite a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Other than the last scrum, Boks appear to have parity at the scrum and are owning the French in the line out and in open play.

As I say that, France stringing together a few nice phases there. Let's hope they get into the swing of it so that we can see a close on like the Aus Eng game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

20-0 now as Steyn penalises France for holding onto the ball on the ground.

Flo (Francois Louw) having a great game pilfering ball on the ground.

France leading the penalty count 6-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Nice try by Rougerie after some good French play.

Converted by Parra to make it 20-7

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,373 ✭✭✭ongarite

Terrible defending from France and SA score another easy try.

    25-7 conversion to come.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭corny

Bryce Lawrence is just itching to penalise the French. Not that the Saffas need his help.

I've seen enough. SH rugby has today shown the enormous gulf that exists between it and the schoolboy rugby played by the NH teams. The chasm is too wide to even contemplate that England/Wales/Ireland/Italy/Scotalnd will make it into the semi-final of the WC.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,214 ✭✭✭wonton

great try from south africa their number 14 picked up a miss pass from a 5 metres from his own try line and legged it to the other tryline, his name sound like "you sure e" . cant see france coming back from this.

    sa-35 france-10

    You mean like 2003?
NZ will be under big big pressure to win this on top of normal expectancy too.
Hard to tell the year before a world cup. There is a Tri Nations, Nov Tests, Six Nations, June tests and another Tri Nations to go before the RWC2011.
A lot of rugby to be played.
Don't worry about the 'hemispheres'. No team thinks in hemispherical terms. They play for nobody else but themselves.

    Try Clerc. Consolation at best.

    SA 42 - 17 FR

Great performance SA. French had no answer and i fear they won't have an answer in the WC to that physicality either.

Bryce Lawrence is a biased ref and doesn't know how to say ruck formed.

Damn, the Saffer Fanny's have done it again! It seems that the SH Fanny's will blow away the NH Richard Cranium's.

very fit SA team. It was almost impossible to adapt to the SH rules in so little time. After 20 minutes, france were penalized 9 times, 0 against SA ... add a lot of missed tackles and it was a recipe for defeat. It was ok after the first 20 minutes but the damage was done. The french pack resisted well i think. The team will be prepared for this type of rules in the WC and the gap will close. The score is a bit arsh, SA well deserve the win though.

I don't agree, France didn't show up ... like last year's 6N match against England. I don't buy these SH rules being the cause of everything. France always knew it'd be a though physical match and the thing is we were demolished in almost every compartiment of the game because the one on one fight always went one way.
This autumn, we played SA well because we decided to match them in physicality to see what else they would propose then. Yesterday was nowhere near that, we've just given up after 5mins of game.

I think there's no conclusion to be taken from this result except maybe that France's inconsistency is back icon8.gificon8.gificon8.gif

Out of the three matches, the only one that really scaries me is the Aus/Eng match ... how on earth can ENG loose a match with such a domination up front ? are the aussies that good ? if yes, what will happen when they have a decent front five ???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭BoarHunter

you're taking this too seriously. last autumn the bocks were cremated physically and we were fit after starting Hcup rugby. This time the SA were super sharp and most of our players were after playing more than 40 matches and a change of rules to deal with. Put on top Mr Lawrence...
For the WC everybody will be on the same level of preparation and i believe the gap between the teams will be closed.
I NZL we will have Jauzion, Harinordoquy, Servat, bastareaud, chabal and others. Add the fact that the saffers won't be able to play all their matches with the same intensity.

Are there June tests next year? I was under the impression that the autumn would be the last time the NH teams faced their southern counterparts before the World Cup but I may be wrong.

Question is - when will they have a decent front five? NZ/S.Africa would have beaten that Aussie team comfortably in my opinion. Australia have injury problems in the front row and simply don't have the strength in depth to replace their first choice props with quality players. NZ and maybe to a lesser degree S. Africa have greater strength in their reserves.

I don't think we go on tour next summer, we're playing some NH teams in warmup games for the RWC.

Did anyone watch the Canada vs France A game in the Churchill cup last night? Engrossing stuff. Canada won 33-27 - against a France team with the likes of Medard and de Puy in their ranks.

Huge win for Canada, so massive congrats to them. They play the Saxons in the final, and if they can replicate that performance, they will win.

Best game of the weekend without doubt. Canada scored some cracking tries. The French were a bit not pushed at times but the Cannucks played with a serious intensity.
