Wireless mic advice

    Hi,
I don't really post here so please don't tear me to shreds. I'm just kind of looking around for wireless mics at the moment and was wondering if any of you boardsies more knowledgable than I would care to offer me some advice on the upsides and downsides, where to look, what price to pay etc.....
I'm in a band and I obviously want to use it for gigs. I'm using a Shure 58 Beta at the moment and it's brilliant. I wouldn't want anything any less than that sound.
During my searching I found this http://www.soundsales.ie/TOA%20Radio%20mic%20Handheld%200nly%20200_95.html
I've never heard of it, anyone know how good or bad it is?

    Thanks in advance guys

To get wired Beta 58A 'quality' in a wireless version, you're talking the guts of €600-800, and even then the results aren't exactly mind blowing. For all the added hassle of antennas, dodgy frequencies, signal drops, a year supply of batteries and more stuff to fiddle with/go wrong, ask yourself if it's really worth the trouble.

    Mic + lead = €150, job done.

Dude, its really not worth. So much that can go wrong with them. Batteries, conflicting signals. All sorts.

But if you want to go that route.
One of these would probably be best. http://www.thomann.de/ie/shure_slx_wl50_b_r5_set.htm

With it, you can set up your beta as a wireless mic, and there wouldnt be too much signal loss. Not noticeable in a live band situation anyway.

However, your money would probably be far better spent on another 58beta and another really high quality cable. Always good to have a spare mic connected and set up in case something goes wrong with the first one.

Stick with what you have until you have 400-1k to drop on a decent enough radio mic....

your wired one will still knock most of the up to 800 quid ones on their backs anyway :D
