Bookies are for losers, but with the ban coming into force for the Headshops, should the Gov not consider extending bans to other shops eg Bookmakers?

I can't see why they would. They make plenty of tax on these places? Plus they employ a lot of people.

You should take a look at the gambling forum. Many of the posters there have more winners than losers. Also, some lad just won 25grand in there.

    Ban bookies??

Are you mad? Think of the poor animals. Take away gambling and attendences at dog races and horse meets disappear over night.

You think anyone gives a fcuk about these "sports".

No, don't take my basic human need away!!! Corpses need lovin', too!

Might as well ban driving too as (like gambling) some people just can't hack it and lose everything. I know one guy who's insanely in-debt but he's slowly paying it back.

Genius! Get rid of the bookies, because no one has the internet in Ireland so they obviously won't just gamble there instead, and just like in states in America where commercial gambling is illegal no one will ever gamble ever again and there will be absolutely no one taking bets illegally. So we can get rid of the tax, fail to stop anyone that wants to from gambling and create a new blackmarket all in one glorious sweep.

Just like they did with the headshops.

Naw, lets go the whole hog and make the place into fúckin Amsterdam, then tax the weed and the hooirs; a year later - what recession?

No way, should the losers game be banned, we still have a choice whether we want to gamble or not. People love a flutter, whether it be the nags, dogs or other sport. When you get the bet up it's a great feeling, the secret is, getting out at the right time with the winnings, if you can do that your doing well.

    Banning the Losers Game

Can you ban love? Is that even possible?!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭franklyshocked

    So here's the story....

Fifteen and Sixteen year old kids were outside the shop getting older people to buy stuff for them. They were taking whatever they could get and some of them were puking on the pavement. One of them ended up getting her stomach pumped. This needs to be stopped.
As you probably figured out I'm not talking about headshops. This is the scene near every off-licence in the country at the weekend.
The whole head-shop thing was badly run, unregulated and on the most part staffed by idiots who didn't know what was in the stuff themselves.
Sure sure there were some decent skins but few and far between.
Anybody who thinks weed will ever get licenced in Ireland is smoking too much. They'd test run it, some fool would give some to 15/16 year olds and one quick call to Joe Duffy and we're back to square one

I'm in favour of IQ tests before you're allowed express an opinion on what other people should do.

It's possible, but you have to hire a whole force of specialized police and train them to do a weird kung fu with guns, then give them black trenchcoats and Audis to drive..... It's really a big hassle man.
