I honestly cannot decide who this is for. Retro enthusiasts are going to prefer using the original hardware and my 10 year old nephew isn't going to be too impressed with 8-bit gaming when he has Modern Warfare II exploding people's heads.

So I'm not sure I get it.

Not much use unless you have the cartridges lying around.
    Nice idea though.

well for a start if it works well with modern tellies , (or plays US games/isnt region locked) it may appeal to people who have a few meg/snes games but dont want to have to jump through hoops to get them working on their Uber TV , plus it looks like it supports the original controllers as well

I can see the point, but not at that price.

Looks nice, but as said, if you already own enough carts to make it worth buying, then you already own a Snes, Nes and Megadrive/Genesis, in fact for the price of the console I'd say you could pick one of each from ebay or adverts for a total less than the cost of the RetroN plus shipping.
Hmm, some of the other items are nice though, especially the http://hyperkin.com/index.php/retro-gaming/retro-system-fc-mobile-ii-white-1.html
    and the
