OK so I've read reviews of some of the guitar repair shops you guys have been talking about on Boards.ie.
Have used Eugene McLoughlin www.theguitarworkshop.net in the past and had a bad experience.
Had to chase him for 5 weeks to get my strat back when I finally did it was scraped like it had been stored on the concrete floor & the switch still crackles.
Didn't bother getting on to him about it as there was no way my guitar was going back there. I'll never sell the guitar so just put it down
to experience. Have been told Derrick Nelson out in Marlay Park does a good job but I live on the north side of town so he's not an option.
Today I'm going to drop my classical guitar into Guitar fix and I'll report back on my experience. Just looks like I need the tuning pegs replaced.
I've heard good things about his work and some bad things about his time keeping but he has to beat 5 weeks and its quality im after
as I have guitars at home to practice on.

I live on the north side of town and it hasn't been a problem for me to make it out there. I just get the 16 bus from town.

John Moriarty (http://archtop.ie/) is great too. Usually very quick and reasonably priced.

you could try fixing the problem yourself also, a crackly switch should be easy enough to fix.. Can be a valuable experience learning to do this yourself, and a lot cheaper..

I've gone to Paul in Monastry Music before, he's based in Clondalkin but is very careful and great worker also. Last time I was in he had a 63 Strat in, not many people would part with those for repair to anyone they didnt trust!!!

I got my guitar back today. They said they'd call when it was ready but i called in just in case and it was ready. So heres the low down

Guitar in to be fixed 18 May
Job to be done: Change 6 machine heads on a nylon acoustic.
    Ready on the 26 May
    Cost €60

I'll fill you in on the quality of the job in a day or two.

There's an alternative on Exchequer Street, just off Georges street called Guitar Fix. They did a great job on my Les Paul. I have read on other threads that the guys there can be quite rude. I think this is not the case they are in fact lovers and want to be alone to get on with, well I think you can imagine. That smell aint left over Spring Rolls you know. The one that looks like Buster Blood Vessell pre the weight loss was screaming. God Bless em I say.

Yeah ditto, could'nt get him and when I did it took him weeks to do a rubbish job on it and now I've been told the neck needs doing. He should have told me that. Cost a lot too.
