    What year is the van?

Has it a full service history?

Maybe he should get on to VW Ireland and start to ask them about it.

only came across this page, this might help others in similar quandry bout their van. i also have vw transporter 07. gear box went after 65km. or 3 yrs later. went back to vendor and they didnt want to know unless i had 4k for new gear box. not a happy bunny hearing that. went to vw irl, same storey, ehhh its out of warranty tut tut was the reply. they were messing with the wrong guy. after much toing and froing for a year i went to small claims court against vendor and i won case. i was awarded the cost of repair to gearbox i payed out earlier in the yr. judge wasnt impressed with the treatment i received from vendor and tore them a new ass-hole.
the law is that you are protected by the 1980 sales of goods act. well worth knowning. take em to court, only costs 30€ in smalls claims.
