Last year this was fantastic...if anyone can join in during the 16 hours its on (an Irish Friday night/sat morning) its a great experience, Live ATC all the way and LOTS of traffic. Get used to oceanic reporting with position reports to an oceanic controller and ground/tower/departure/centre where applicable. 2.3 Hours is the shortest leg and you can just use the standard 737 and navigate with GPS if you don't have a pay ware aircraft. I know theres not much except empty ocean underneath to look at, but the amount of VATSIM traffic online at the same time and on the same comms channels makes it very interesting and realistic.

Queenstown has fantastic approach and departure routes through mountains and valleys and Melbourne is a lovely area also.

The standard scenery in FSX and FS2004 will do the job but there are good quality 3rd party addons too.

This is this weekend...Friday night onwards. There will be LOTS of traffic, full ATC including oceanic radio and probably interesting weather either end and across the Tasman. When else will you get to fly between Oz and Nz with this amount of other traffic? Its an easy flight too, can be done in the default FSX 737 with GPS waypoints and no added scenery. The approach and departures from NZQN are amazing!
