Male pubic area grooming technique?

Regular poster, unreg for my own privacy on this one.

I'm curious about techniques for male pubic-region grooming. I've trimmed my nether-regions for years, I'm a 22 year old male, and I'm thinking of taking the next step and taking the whole lot off (before anyone misinterprets that, I'm leaving my manhood intact, I'm simply getting rid of the hair). For the last few years I've been trimming myself a couple of times monthly, using a scissors, keeping it nice and tidy, but I'd like to get rid of the hair, at least for a while.

    My main concerns are:
Which IMPLEMENT should be used for full pubic hair removal? I've a Quattro razor and shaving foam at my disposal. I also have a 3-head Braun beard trimmer. Hopefully with your comments I may be able to decide which of these two is better for initial removal and/or subsequent maintenance. The risk of nicking my sack or member with the Quattro razor is slightly scary, but I'm willing to give it a go, I'll just have to be careful I suppose. Anybody any tips on this?

An alternative is waxing, but I've never waxed any part of my body. What products are available, and needed? Can it be done at home, alone? Have many of you tried this? If so, is it easy, does it need to be done frequently? I'm aware of and prepared to endure the pain involved.

So I suppose the IMPLEMENT, METHOD and FREQUENCY OF MAINTENANCE are all playing on my mind.

Another concern would be if I choose to abort this little experiment after a few weeks and I revert to a trimmed bush, is the returned hair growth going to be considerably denser than before, as with other hair elsewhere on the body after shaving? Am I going to have more pubic hair and thicker, darker pubic hairs? I couldn't imagine hairs thicker than pubic hair, but is it possible?

I'm aware of maintenance issues, such as frequent exfoliation and scrubbing to prevent ingrown hairs. But I haven't a clue how often it will need maintaining; should I leave it until there's a decent growth or keep hemming it in every 3 or 4 days in the shower as you would a beard?

Before we go any further, I'd like to point out that I've read 2 previous threads on the topic of male grooming, but they became arguments over what women prefer and what sort of men groom themselves. They've been closed because they became arguments between members, rather than constructive conversations and reference threads for people who might be curious about this sort of thing.

I'm hoping for a thread with integrity here, and others with similar questions are welcome to join in. So please if you've nothing to add to the topic of male grooming technique, and you're simply here to say men who do it aren't men or that women prefer hairy men, they're either personal opinion or generalisations, and you're not really contributing much.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and responds.

You can buy products to wax at home such as Nair Microwave Wax in most supermarkets and large chemists. In terms of where you are going to be waxing the rule is that the tauter the skin the easier it is, so it won't be an easy task.

In that regard I'd suggest you get a professional treatment first time.
Be vigilant about exfoliating and moisturising.

In terms of regrowth, the more you wax, the lesser the regrowth should be.
If you decide to regress back to your natural self, there is no real evidence that it will be any thicker etc.

good lord man talk about overthinking it, just trim it down with an electric razor then wetshave it, it'll grow back in less than 2 weeks and look the same as it was if you dont like it completely shaved and it doesnt grow back thicker. You can do it every few days or every week or whatever suits, and exfoliate when you shower, thats it.

OP here again, thanks for the prompt responses guys.
I'm thinking the wax above/shave below combo might be best, as I can imagine waxing the ball sack might be pushing the boundaries of my pain threshold.
Any exfoliants/moisturisers you can recommend? I have sallow skin, prone to oily build-up sometimes depending on diet and that.
Also, blending it in with upper leg hair and the "happy trail"... is the electric razor best for managing this? Does full navel hair and a waxed pubic region just look ridiculous?

Ive tried home waxing, once, incredibly sore!! Couldnt even get through it all. A professional would be the way to go there id say.

Shaving is ok, but it only lasts a day or two, then you've got the stubble, so you have to keep up with it. And it can get pretty itchy. Moisturise

Hair removal cream (Veet etc.) is really good. Lasts a little longer than shaving, and none of the itching. Cn be expensive though, as you can get through a tube pretty quick. Jus tmake sure and get the stuff for sensitive skin, and read the instructions. Dont leave it on longer than it says on the tube.

Phillips Bodygroom, have 3 blades or you can go bare, once you charge it'll work for ages and its waterproof so you can use it in the shower.

And it's on sale here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-TT2021-Bodygroom-Rechargeable-Trimmer/dp/B000QGKGYI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=drugstore&qid=1274257532&sr=8-1

Don't wax it - can you imagine the pain?!

Just wondering, why ? Did you have a massive bush of hair or something.

Hey all, thanks for your responses.

I used the "comb" on the back of my Braun electric razor to trim it down to 4-5mm, as I always did when previously trimming. Since then I've been using a tweezers, half afraid of the pain of waxing, but tweezing became tedious after a few hundred hairs.
So I went out and bought Veet for Men, only to discover when I got home that it's not for use on the genital area (for back, chest, arms, legs and underarms only). The label is obscured by the spatula you get with the kit, until you remove the foil, so there was no way for me to know until I got home and opened it up.
Stuck with it now I suppose, but I'm confident I can get away with using it as I've fairly robust skin and I've no known allergies. My only fear is that using it down below is going to sterilise me. I very much doubt that's the reason they nigs genital use on the label, as the warning would have to be more explicit than just "Not suitable for the head, face... anus or genitals". Machman, you were singing Veet for Men's praises, I suppose I'll take your word for it, it's the painless and effective option!

I stated in my original post that I didn't want this to become a "what sort of a man shaves his gonads" thread, let's try keep it that way. I don't think I'm the only man here who thinks it's not right to expect women to take care of themselves and for you to be lazy about it, happy with a small Coillte forest in your crotch.

Use after shave balm or hand moisturizer if you're being cheap(recession and all). But you can specific moisturiser for your balls.

All the hair removal creams say that, i think they're just covering themselves incase some idiot get it in the japs eye or something.

It can be a little tricky to use though, if you dont leave it on long enough, it wont get all the hair off, but too long and it can burn the skin (only if you leave it on longer than the packet says)

I found that alright, the packet recommends 4 (up to a maximum of 6) minutes. I've treated it a couple of times now, and I think the tougher hairs of the pubic region need at least 6 minutes if not longer. No adverse reactions although the crease in the skin between the pelvis and the inside of my leg flared up the first time, not used to the burning sensation and I suppose there was a bit of rubbing when I walked afterwards.
