Taking my Garmin an age the last couple of days to pick up an accurate signal, for the first 5/10 mins of my last couple of runs the location has been offset.. correct line but maybe 100m from the actual route. Anyone else having issues? Only considered tonight that the famous ash may have something to do with it.

I noticed this too, but put it down to the trees where im running blooming and blocking out the signal... Ash sounds cooler though.

It's been taking a bit longer than usual to pick up the signal alright. Maybe a little bit less accurate on the route maps as well, but nothing as significant as what you're experiencing... Quick Google brings up this article which mentions a similar thing happening with the authors Sat Nav in their car.

Have had that problem in Dublin last week but was spot on when in Mayo over the weekend...

    Let's blame the ash though!!!

Mine is taking ages to load these days as well, no problem with the signal though, it has been spot on the markers the last two races it has had

Had a little trouble with the Garmin last week, went for a nice easy jog and it had me down as running 4:50 for this first mile!! Apart from that it's been fine.

seeing similar issue around back roads in westport , I am hoping it might also explain the slower than usual times on the 10k runs and the constant heavy legs but that might be pushing it.:)

I was having this problem last week (in Dublin). My start position was around 30m out of where it should have been, but the accuracy improved as I went on. It has been working fine this week. I read somewhere recently that increasing Sun Spot activity this year would cause big problems for GPS systems.
