    Nooooooooooooooooo!

I can just see him comparing cowboy boots and stetson with the Texas rose.

He is one big lump of country lard.

Nobody in any cities watches the rose of Tralee of course. They are far too good for that.

Guaranteed to be a couple of cringe moments but I wouldn't begrude it to him. His shows in America on TG4 weren't actually all that bad.
It's only on the live stuff that he seems to culchie it up.

ya i loved his series on the country music, some great old footage that we would never see. brilliant. as you say the live tv with him acting so bogman like annoys me. al this "ara sure im in it for the craic ya boy ya" wears a bit thin.

Not sure why Daithí gets so much abuse. He's a bit of an eegit, like that stupid ad that he has on the radio " do it wi a bit ha mash, and they all think ur a great fella altogether".. but he seems like a decent guy, wasnt groomed by his connections like other RTE stars, and he seems very grounded.

The show itself is an anachronism, so I dont know what he can do to make it any more interesting.

My wife suggested we watch it "sometime it can be very good you know" . . .

Fifty minutes later we both agreed that it was total crapp

What The Rose of Tralee needs is someone like Terry Wogan giving a piss-taking commentary, much like the Eurovision, where suitable comments could be made about the host, the Roses, and pretty much everyone in camera-shot.

That would be worth the licence fee alone, but RTE would never have the guts to pull it off (although someone with editing equipment might want to have a go:D).

    Channel 4 maybe?
