    I've never heard of a GUI sweep competition, but we used to have a sweep in our club for the captains and presidents prize which meant a portion of the entry fee went to the winner of the competition, e.g. entry fee is €20, €5 of which goes to the sweep, so if 100 entrants then the winner would recieve €500 (which was usually spent behind the bar anyway).
