    Hello,

I want to set up a good projector and speaker entertainment system for under €500.

What should I be looking at for good value?

    cnocbui,

If you don't have something useful to say in response to a query, it would be better to say nothing at all. Sarcastic remarks are not acceptable.

If you have any queries regarding this, do not post here, send a PM.

    MrMiyagi,

That budget isn't going to allow you to get a decent projector and a decent home cinema speaker system. An entry-level home cinema projector will cost you €600 + and you could budget about the same for a decent entry level AV receiver and speakers. There are cheaper business class digital projectors and while these will throw a big very bright image, they're not really suitable for home cinema and in the long run you'd be better off going for a home cinema type projector.

I'd suggest that you do a bit of surfing on sites like Richersounds.com and pixmania.com to get an idea of the kind of kit that's available - this could give you a better starting point.

Here is an idea which is inside your budget.

    Aiptek Mobile Cinema D20

This is an all-in-one "BoomBox" DVD - Projector which can project up to a 75" image. (Works best at 60"-65"). Only 20 lumens LED but works great in a dark room.

Seen one in THE GADGET STORE in Dundrum shopping centre.
