Replacing Quicken 98

I've been using Quicken 98 since, well, 1998 and I've been able to install it on successive computers until my latest laptop. The laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit and Quicken 98 is incompatible with it. Both Quicken and Microsoft Money seem to be no longer available so I was wondering if anything has taken there place.

Is Mint.Com something I should look at ? It's online rather than installed on the computer.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi OP, really it depends on what you need to do. what does your company do? what do you need to track? what reports do you hope to get at the end?

I haven't used mint.com myself but If you were looking for something very basic to track income and expenditure for free you could look at the TAS Books Basics which is the free accounts package from Tas. Unlike mint.com Tas is installed on your PC though so would not be accessible from any PC which is an advantage of online software.

I am connected to Sage / Tas and have checked for you to see if Basics is compatible with Windows 7. I have been advised that we have customers working on Windows 7, when you install the software there is just a few steps that you need to do to set it up. Support are happy to help with these steps and there are 30 days free support from date of download with basics.

Another smaller software I have used myself for personal spending was www.spendingdiary.com which is a very simple application for tracking income and expense but it is free and easy to use

I just used Quicken 98 to keep a track of household bank accounts, and also to reconcile when the statements arrive. It's not company related.

Have a look at Xero personal. It should be similar to Quicken. I've never used it but read good things.

Hi, in that case the Tas Basics product will let you do all of that. It is free anyway so no harm to download it and have a look, just give the support guys a call once you have it downloaded to advise them that it is windows 7 and they can help you set up.

the spending diary is good for tracking personal expenses but is limited in functionality it will not allow you to add statements or anything
