Quick question...

I'm just wondering weather my Escort Mk3 was built in Cork or Dagenham...

On the chassis plate, it says 'IRELAND' on it, but the VIN starts with 'S' (which means UK).

I've heard conflicting reports about this on another forum. Anyone care to clear this up for me? Thanks.

Eerily enough Henry ford and son limited closed its doors for the last time on Friday the 13th July 1984. As far as i know in the few years up untill then they were just assembling Sierras, though they may have been assembling Escorts too. Id guess your Escort was built in Dagenham, and probably assembled from a CKD kit here. I think the Ireland written on the VIN would confirm this.
