Brave and ballsy move by Peters, Breen Team and Haughian.

McIntyre might have hit a ropey spot in terms of results but is a dangerous fighter.

He should have put Thompson away in his last fight and let him off the hook and threw it away.

Big step up in class from his last two fights and its a tough tough fight for the Lurganite but I am sure everyone will be 100% behind him.

It's a brave and ballsy move but I like it a lot. Haughian can really blow hot and cold, sometimes he looks really good and like he could operate at a much higher level than he does and other times he can look quite poor.
McIntyre himself is also very inconsistent, so in that respect we could see anything here.

I do think McIntyre is fading in his career however, and while a lot of the stoppages he suffered in his career were largely weight related I think he is a small bit vulnerable and that Haughian may be able to get to him if he pressures him. Nevertheless McIntyre is quite slick and a huge step up in class for Haughian, but if he wins it he'll be right there at British title level and just at the time when Kell Brook is moving away from British title fights aswell so the timing is perfect.

With home support behind him I think Haughian can pull it out in a real good scrap.

Haughian by a close points decision [split if three judges being used]. Mc Intryre is a very decent fighter and is the WW gatekeeper in the British and Irish isles. He also has held the British title a few times. Wasn't impressed with Haughian in his outing in the 02 and I actually taught his opponent nicked the win. IMO Haughian will be able to do just enough to win the fight.

Not exactly a spoiler - but yeah, sorry mate.

Gives me no pleasure whatsoever in saying I told you so - it was too much of a jump between a draw with Starikov nearly a year ago to taking on McIntyre.

Maybe they thought that McIntyre was on the slide and ripe for the picking. If they did then they just looked at his record and not at his fights. He had Thompson reeling and threw the fight away by taking his fight off the gas towards the end.

Haughian has to drop back down to Irish title fight level now I think.
