    hey folks ,

Just wondering what the story is with penalty points expiring.
I got 4 points ( 2 + 2 ) over the space of month in February 2007. So by my reckoning I should be points free since February this year, I've been told that I will receive a letter to the effect that the points are no longer on my license but so far I've received nothing like that. Anyone know how it works?? Do you even get a letter or any sort of notice or do the points just slip off quietly into the night??

    Cheers

Yes youll get a letter from the rsa. Remember though the points dont go on your licence for 2-3 weeks after you pay the fine....

    Hi ya,
I got 4 points, 4 weeks apart in 2007 as well, 2 were jan and 2 were feb. I got a letter about 4 weeks ago telling me the jan ones were gone and im yet to receive the notification about the feb ones!!
So im guessing they're a good 4 months behind and on a work to rule, i'd say thats 6 months!! But you will get your letter. If i don't get my second letter soon i'm ringing the RSA. Nowway i'm being punished come insurance time, I've done the crime but i've paid the time!

It depends on when they applied them to you licence. I got caught speeding in November but the points didnt start on my licence untill February. So you need to check when they put them on.

Didnt get applied until February?? What sort of shambles is that??
Its quite possible that they didnt get applied until later alright. I would have paid the fine about a month later and they arent applied until a couple of months later I could very well still have them so.

A joke of a system imo.
