Hi guys, looking for some input from someone who's been in the same boat. Taking a position soon and have exemptions from F1-F6 in ACCA from a post grad I did in accountancy. The problem is, i did that postgrad over 2 years go and have been working in an entirely different sector that has nothing to do with accountancy. Basically I have forgotten most of the content. What im wonderin is would i better off starting the exams from scratch to refresh my knowledge or will the stuff come back to you as you go. Cheers

    Hi,
I can understand your concerns as I was in a similar situation in the past.
I took exemptions from F1, F2, F3, F5, F6 & F9... I passed the other F level exams at first attempt and found at lot of stuff I had done in the past came back to me as I was studying for those exams.. If i were you I would definately take the exemptions..
If your new employer is paying for tuition then you should have no problems getting back up to speed as tuition providers assume that students have no knowledge of topics..

best of luck with ACCA exams.. some of them are far from easy!!!!

Cheers Harold, thats good to hear, it would be a bit painful tbh if I passed on those exemptions. Is that definitely the case about the lecturers assuming you have no knowledge of the topics. If thats the case id be fairly reassured about taking them so.

Take the exemptions. Worst case scenario you may have to hit the library to brush up on stuff.

But its not worth having the stress of extra exams

I have got tuition from both DBS and Griffith for different topics so far & have no complaints... for F7 i had covered combinations, cash flows etc and the lecturer in griffith just started from scratch which was just revision to me.. was surprised how much i had remembered as it was about 4 years since I had last looked at them...

like Johnny said worst case scenario is a few hours in library..
