Hurling bands at juvenile age

Are these bands allowed at juvenile level?

My 7yr old was playing in a game this morning against a local team...every kid on the other team had a band on the hurl. I appreciate that kids this age get a rap on the knuckles a lot more as they don't get as tight on the opponents until a later age, but a few kids got badly skinned knuckles due to these bands.

Personally I dont see the need for them at this level

the bands make no real difference unless they arent put on correctly i.e. a sharp edge sticking out on the heel of the hurl. belts are still as sore with or without the band;)

Bands are allowed at any age! I know in camogie that if a player is playing with a banded hurley then it has to be covered in tape, don't think there is any such rule in hurling

thats my gripe....not too many people check kids hurls and a band on a hurl of a player that gets stuck in that is not on correctly can cut a lot of hands

I would certainly be in favour of the bands being taped up. It does 2 things, first protects the individuals on the pitch and it means the bands are inspected more often for defects
