Why does it cost so much to check a cars history compared to the UK? Surely if it were cheaper here more people would use it and therefore they would make more money what do ye think?

Probably because the UK has a yearly MOT, so they know they're cars are alright compared to our cars which have out of date NCT's, two year NCT's and no Tax etc.
