    Are HR in breach of confidentiality if they talk to a third party at work about a particular issue involving another employee and if so can any case against that employee be dropped as a result.

    Highly doubt it but will depend on exact details and circumstances; for example HR could speak with a lawyer to get their opinion etc.

    If this is a work related issue then no they are not. If they have disclosed personal details then maybe but again it depends on the circumstances surrounding the information.

    Not really enough info here for anyone to give you useful advice.
