    all,

trying to format a drive so that windows NT will recognize it. Have tried this but no joy. NT and dos say the drive is invalid. I cant format in DOS or in the NT environment either  The drive is visible in "my computer" but you cant access or format it and you get the following error when you try to access it "the volume does not contain a recognized file system"

    any ideas?

NT 4 will not recognise FAT32

Format the drive as NTFS instead,

If you want to share files to old OS's then put a 2GB fat16 partition on the drive too

FAT16 = 2GB limit on partition size , recognised by everything

FAT32 , recognised by all OS's apart from Dos, NT (and some windows 95 )

NTFS, recognised by all OS's apart from DOS and windows pre 2000 except NT
