Battery question

I just got my first AEG, a M4A1 from Dboys, second hand.

When I was putting in the stock battery I saw the black wire was loose. I checked out a new one and was told that the connector is smaller then the type used in Ireland, so a replacement would be hard to find. The markings say LJ Battery 2/3AA 9.6V 300mAh.

Wondering how 'hard' is hard? Was recommended to have the connector changed, however the total cost of the upgrade, new battery and charger would be more then the cost of the M4. Which defeats the purpose of a cheap starter gun.

Another option is to go to a friend who is an engineering type who knows about electrics for repair. Is that a good option?

A new batter is about €25, a connector is about 50c, where were you told this?

I was told the fee of changing the connector would be €35 at Go Tactical in Bray.

A battery ot €30. I didn't ask, but later presumed I would need a new charger with a new battery which would be another €30ish, from looking online.

Any chance you post some pics of it just to be sure....it kinda sounds odd and the price doesnt really make sense as what lefty said is spot on....

Here is a pic of the connector.

As for the other questions, do I need to get another charger for a new battery or can that be modified as well. Can the battery be safely fixed.

I have a friend who can fix the connectors for me. What is the type/name of connector I need to get. I presume they are available in any electrical store.

With a bit of research I discovered they are called tamiya connectors. The female end is called a Kyosho connector. I found them in maplins for €3.15 each.

Happy Happy Joy Joy, the connections on the M4, battery and charger have all been replaced. It works fine so far.
