    Can anyone help me.

Where is the best and reasonable priced place to get teeth whitened in ireland?
Wanted to get my teeth whitened for ages, does anyone have any bad/good experiences of getting there teeth whitened.:)

I'd be really interested to hear from people too. I've been shopping around and there seems to be vast differences in prices. For instance, <snip> on O'Connell St quoted me €450 for the laser whitening and you need a scale and polish first, extra €50, but <snip> on Grafton St quote €170 with a free top up?

A thread on here discussed the Zoom tooth whitening and also the home tray kit and the crest strips, but it was dated 2008. Wondering if anything has happened in the market since then?

Zoom is not laser whitening. Light activated bleaching systems are not as effective as take home bleaching kits. As far as I am aware the clinic that you mentioned (who shall remain nameless) do not use a laser to whiten teeth.

i got a home whitening kit from my dentist as a reward for staying off the fags for a year and also for being a big brave girl and going to the dentist to get some long overdue fillings.

basically, the dentist will take a mold of your teeth, and make a clear silicon type mold that fits snug over your teeth - you put a dot of the bleach in each tooth part on the mold, and pop it in for a max of 2 hrs.

there are different strengths of bleach - some kits are ok to wear overnight, mine wasnt. at the time it cost 300 euro, but i think its gotten cheaper. i think that there is not much in the price difference between in house and at home whitening.

i chose home whitening because i was put off by the idea that i had to eat white foods for a while if i got the inhouse one, but in hindsight i would go for the inhouse one. the bleach will make your teeth painful with sensitivity, so i would get it over in one go rather than bit by bit pain at home.

its hard to find 2 hrs in the day to put your moulds in where you dont need to speak/drink/eat etc (well, you can mumble understandably) and do this for weeks, so the inhouse its over in one shot.

now, my teeth definately brightened up, but i never stuck with the full course, it was too sore and i was drooling like a mutt, but after my exams i plan to give them another go, with lots of sensodyne and neurofen at the ready. my sister had a home whitening kit too and she found it really painful too.

But the thing is, if you get the in house bleaching, you have to do the take home anyway.

The laser is mostly a sales tool as patients are given a home kit anyway. It is not a laser, just a bright light. As far as I know there is no evidence to say that it is better than the take home trays but because it is convenient, i.e. done in 1 go, it sells well. To get the ebst result you will need the at home trays.

All bleaching that is effective is going to be sensitive but if done professionally will be harmless. Many salons offer it but it would not be dentist doing the treatment so it would be like letting the cleaner in the salon cut your hair. Naturally prices differ between dentists so shop around
