Has my itouch got gps ?

    When i start Ndrive get msg "waiting for a valid GPS signal"

    Itouch is situated outdoors should should pick a gps signal easy enuf,
    waiting an hour and still same message

    Wondering does my itouch have gps built in

    Looked at settings, no mention of gps there

    Model is
    mc008ll
    32 gb itouch

    Thing is when i use pumps.ie, finds petrol stations near me
    daft.ie finds properties near me
    maps finds my current location

    When it finds the petrol stations etc, are you on wifi? Gps relys on a signal to satelites from your device.. I afaik iPod touches don't have anything built in for this...

    iPods don't have a GPS chip. Wifi access points registered on the Skyhook database can be used for geolocation though.

    Think about it - if you have a telephone number of (01) 123 4567, it is easy to tell you are in Dublin, and the 123 part gives a good idea of where in Dublin you are.

    Same deal for IP addresses which you will be allocated when you connect via WiFi.
