Iphone taking credit?

I have an iPhone on prepay with vodafone, abolutely love it but pretty much everyday, I end up losing 99c presumably from my phone connecting to the internet. I have Wifi turned on, but data roaming, 3g, notifications are not on. Also don't use Internet Tethering and VPN isn't configured. The only thing I see possibly draining my credit are Apps automaticlaly updating, however as far as I know I've turned these options off on them all? Is there any way of checking this or other possible causes of it?

If you use any app they might auto connect to the Internet/a server somewhere..

Changing apn and blanking it might work..else you'd have to ring up the network and get them to disable Internet acess completely...if they'd do that.

It's a right pain in the ass, I'd love for there just to be a switch to turn off data acess on the phone.

If your phone is jailbroken, you can use SBSettings to add an on/off toggle.

Why don't you join vodafone 360, it's for prepay and works on the iPhone. 360 gives you 100mb per day for 39cent a day or a little over 12€ a month.

just because you've turned off 3g doesn't mean your iphone will not use the cellular network for data.

whilst the phone is in sleep mode wi-fi is turned off and any data will run over the cellular network if you don't have 3g on the phone will use edge (o2/3/meteor) or gprs (vodafone) so you'll still be charged.

the best way to stop this is turn off both 3g and edge on your phone, if you have SBSettings you can turn off these easily but if you don't it's tricky to turn off edge and tbh i think the only way you can do it is by entering in erroneous APN information.

theres a data toggle for SBsettings which completely disables and data, i tried it yesterday, it still shows E in the status bar but there was no internet access and it just worked like a normal phone

Thanks for all the help so far! It's not jailbroken.. Looked into it a while ago but I thought there wasn't a way to unlock or jailbreak it as it's the 3.1.3. version! Any other way of turning the mysterious usage off without SBsettings? And re going on 360, I really don't need it! I rarely use my phone to go on the Internet and if I do it's always wifi for various apps that need it like eirtext! Thanks for the suggestion though!

just edit the apn, go to settings>general>network>cell data network and edit the first apn, yake note of what it currently is and edit it back again when ya want to use data

The only settings I have under network are enabling 3g, data roaming, Internet tetherinf, VPN and wifi!

vodafone must have it blocked so, ya can either ring up vodafone and get data disabled on ur account or else jailbreak and do it that way

Jailbreak would be the easiest option for you.
