Hey all, is there a website that can show me information on tyres and wheel size?

I bought a Peugeot 206 recently, A few weeks later we had a blow out. The car skidded and we were very lucky. When I took the car to get checked the mechanic said the car was fine but handled very badly cos the tyres are too big. A few other people have said this too. They all said it shouldn't have been sold with those wheels on it.

I bought it off a garage so when I brought it back they wouldn't do anything. I'm looking at taking this further so I need to know if there are guidelines about how big the wheels should be....

I'm also looking to see whether theres anywhere I could find someone to swap 17inch alloys for 14inch steels...

Are you sure you need to go from 17' down to 14'? I'm not convinced you need to go that small.
The GTI can take the folowing sizes:
    MY99-MY01 185/55 R15V
    MY01-MY04 205/45 R16Z
    MY03-MY04 GTi180/RC 205/40 R17W.

Why did you buy the car? Did you think the "look" of the wheels made you like it more?
The only reason I ask is because smaller wheels will change the look of the car.
