No, I haven't found anywhere doing 50% off beer deals.

A mate of mine was just saying there, how come you never see deals such as this ? Like you'd see 50% off nearly anything else, just never beer. I know places would do 'deal' like "10 euro for 6 cans" and all that.

Imagine the scene, walking into a shopping centre and seeing "50% of cream eggs" you'd be thinking "Ah deadly, thats cool" but imagine you're going drinking and walked into an offo and saw a crate of *insert desired beer here* for half price, that'd be amazin' !

Why don't places do this ?

...Because the Irish Vinters Federation has a stranglehold over the prices of drink in this country.
    Thats it, full stop.

I wouldn't. I'd be wondering where the end of that slogan had gone and then think to myself, "50% of Creme eggs... what?"

Damn typos. I blame the alcoholic beverages I've had.

I suggest you read the following: http://www.soldiersofdestiny.org/tddrinklobbyscandal.htm

Interesting story of a publican that crossed my path.
He wanted to lower the prices of his drink to try and bring in customers and word got out of his intention to do so.
Word also got to the VFI. They sent down two reps' to ask him not to do so as it would effect others businesses in his town. They also said his membership of the VFI would be withdrawn and this would have a knock on effect on his ability to maintain stocks (veiled threat?).

The bar owner was due to make his next payment for membership of the VFI that month - but instead with the two reps in the bar, went and ripped up the membership cheque in front of them and told them to get the hell out and never return.

The VFI and co don't want price drops, to do so would see their particular members face serious competition in the bars as well as the off-licences.

Molloys were doing 24 bottles of budlight for 15 quid. That's more than half price

Whether Bud light qualifies as beer or not is questionable though

It is because the amount of duty on alcohol. You never see 50% off petrol or cigarettes either. A lot of the special offers you see on beer are below cost selling already.

When you see 50% off Creme Eggs it probably just means they sell them at cost price

Id drink excelsoir or tennents before Heineken or bud. If its not smithwicks draught or guinness draught in a pub I'm as well pleased with the cheap largers. I actually think tennents is the best beer from a can.
