    Hi All

Is anyone else having problems with the new Epa Regulations regarding waste water/sewage etc

Im in Mayo and our site failed on the percolation test due to a very thick dauby layer of sub soil which isn't letting the water through. my engineer is stumped and we are going to attempt another tri hole in another part of the site but its not looking good!!
Anyone know any other options, this site is our last hope? :(
    Thanks

Firstly, its not a site yet, its a field...

If a field is not suitable, its simply not suitable.

Are you purchasing or is it family land??

If purchasing look elsewhere, if family land is there any other area in the landholding?

I have had some difficulty getting tests passed in mayo too!!. It was too easy with SR6, for example, I had a test carried out last year under SR6, and passed, just needed a raised percolation, It had to be retested under the EPA test and that became complete saga!!! It is going to make a lot of "sites" in mayo back into fields if you ask me!!!

I agree, I dont know what I am going to do and this field is my only option!! :(

This new test will leave whole swathes of the countryside unsuitable for housing...I heard recetly that most of Leitrim is unsuitable..

I'm torn between thinking it's a good thing and being thankful that ours was done two years ago as I don't beleive it would pass, frankly I don't see how ours passed as it was !

If it's possible, find a suitable spot close by and pump to it. It needn't be part of the 'site' and you would need to get the landowners permission etc. Maybe then a raised percolation area would work
P.S. I'm not an expert in this area so I can only offer it as a suggestion.

Who is doing your test for you, they are I assume EPA Fetac qualified, I'm afriad morning delight's suggestion is a complete non runner, the septic tank and percolation must be within the site, what was the "t" result on the test you carried out already, if it is >90 under EPA the test is a failure is <90 there may be alternatives within it.
