    Was in Fuerteventura a while back, never saw one of those at any of the places we ate. Looks like an inverted tandoor. Can't imagine why it'd be better than a normal cast iron frying pan...

    It's called a hot pot. They use it in China, Mongolia, Japan, etc. for cooking raw meat on the central part and making a broth in the bowl. There's a similar one here, some guys in a restaurant in China. I've used a similar one before, where there were hot coals under a grated dome. Very cool, nice dining experience.
