Anyone see the first part of this where he is investigating whether or not some well known psychic/medium is real or not.

The guy is Joe Power. My god, I was just getting angry watching him, what a complete knob end!! Disgusting person manipulating grieving people. I like to keep an open mind about psycics and mediums but he completely put me off the idea of ever going to one. Can't believe he gets offensive if the people don't agree with what he's telling them, like saying the number 7 and if they don't know what it means, he says "Well I know love, keep thinking" Cheeky c**t! Delighted Derren made a complete tool out of him by doing nothing at all and letting Joe show the world that he is indeed a fraud!

Yeah thought it was fairly interesting actually! Loved the end where he found out the first woman he "interviewed" actually lived beside his sister and that's where he acquired all the info from. When is the next one on do you know!?

Oh ya, I was really hoping for some closure on that reading and was truly satisfied at the end. Just watched Derren Brown: Seance again last night. Such quality programming.

Next programme, he is interviewing a Ghost Hunter in America, should be right funny. I believe it is on Monday night on Channel 4 but could be wrong.

Thanks! I'll check TV listings, fairly sure it's monday I watched it last week. Not sure what to make of Derren Brown. He seems genuine enough.. But there's something about him I'm not quite sure of!

I'm not sure what to make of these "psychics" either. Obviously the Liverpool fella was a fraud but I know people who genuinely have faith in it, these are people who I'd trust with my life so I'm quite interested in the subject and I'm trying to be as open-minded as possible. I normally end up being quite dismissive though. :o

Ya, I know people who have gone to psychics and have been told things that no one else could possibly know. I'm a big fan of Derren, ya he is a strange and pretentious but then he just comes out and says he is in no way a psycic and he uses cold reading, then gives the girl from hollyoaks a brilliant reading. Don't know how he does it but his shows are very entertaining. I would highly recommend you watch Seance if you can find it online.

Super show, Derren makes for a fantastic investigator.

That Joe Power phony just make me want to cringe, I have few doubts that he is a fake, some observations:

What was the deal with going to the bathroom before giving a reading in a house? To any rational person it would appear he is fishing for clues...

Refusing to go for scientific experiments.

Never did he offer a name in a reading.

When he gave facts he asked the person confirm what the relation was.

It really is a damming to Mr. Power that Derren openly admits to cold reading and gives a better reading to the Hollyoaks lady. Joe just comes up with this Mini from nowhere....wow I was flabber....oh wait he saw her in it.

I dont think there was any ambiguity in the conclusion of the show, Derren proved him to be a fake.

Really enjoyed this last week and looking forward to Mondays. I liked how even though Derren was skeptical about it, he didn't just call him out right away.
He gave the guy a chance to come clean and to prove that he really had the ability to channel the dead. The guy not only failed to do it, but wouldn't even participate in a scientific test. There was no doubt at the end that Derren proved that guy to be a total fraud.

I'm a really big fan of derren brown, I went to his live show a few weeks ago and got called up on stage it was simply unbelieveable stuff he was doing!

It really surprised me how good he was in this somewhat outside his comfort zone.

There was another thread in this put I really wanted to kick that joe power guy in the nuts,

I'm looking forward to the ghost hunter one cause those shows makes me cringe.

Exactly why I would avoid his live show, would be s*itting it if he called me on stage haha. I'd say it was some laugh though.

The next episode is about the Brannikov method. A technique this guy supposedly created to help blind people see.

Derren really gave that guy the benefit of the doubt and the fact that he (alleged medium) turned defensive and churlish really showed him up to be the self-delusional cold-reading manipulative charlatan that he is.

Of course, I'm a true psychic because I'm now sensing that someone in this thread is connected with a 'David' or a 'John', maybe someone that's either a family member or a work colleague, yes, it's all becoming clear now...was he a biped? Yes? Uncanny. Now I'm off to claim my $1m from James Randi.

Also that clip, indeed, is awesome!

Ah stop it was crazy, I was half pissed but was still shaking like a leaf. The trick was crazy it would take to long to explain but to but it simply at least 5 people came up to me seperately and asked was I a plant.

I'm looking forward to his other shows in any event.

I don't think it was a matter of him giving the benefit of the doubt. You could clearly see that Derren thought he was barking mad and/or a class A manipulative arsehole.

He couldn't come out and say any of that to his face, because that would just leave him with a lawsuit for defamation or slander or whatever.

The show ended perfectly with the open ended conclusion. It pretty much summed up his own conclusion of Joe Power, ie. that he is a cheat and a charlatan, but without actually saying it, and giving Joe some of the power to do his little song and dance about how he was conned, etc (Which he did anyway, but he really hasn't anything to go on)

What a class Stewie impression hahaha. Are there any Joe Power hate groups I can join on facebook?

What is his book about? Might pick it up.

Will go watch that episode with the computer game in the pub and making the guy think he was in the game. This that is the best mind trick I have ever seen done by anyone.

This week was also quite interesting albeit in my opinion less so than last week. Save for the very start of the program the theory never really seemed plausible. Seems like a complete fraud and money-making scam. Sad really.. Again though Derren handled it very well as usual, especially in the interrogation at the end. Ugh, that fella was something else. His answers were highly vague and failed to give him any sort of credibility. It was all quite embarrassing. Again sad that they're exploiting vulnerable people.
