Zafira 1.6 vs 1.8?

Currently drive 1.8 petrol zafira (02) which was import from UK. Now looking to update with newer model (budget will run to around a 2007 one) but having trouble finding a 1.8 - all seem to be 1.6 (I guess due to road tax?) Am I going to notice much difference in drive/performance with smaller engine size? thinking especially when full with 6/7 adults/teenage kids? Been advised not to get diesel as don't do many miles. Thanks!

Most 1.8 litre models here are autos and tend to be ex rentals. The newer shape Zafira is a heavier car than the old one so I would imagine that it will struggle in 1.6 litre loaded down with people.

Maybe importing again from the UK is an option as they don't sell the Zafira in 1.6 litre over there or else look at something else like the S-Max or Mazda 5.
