registering to treat pts on DTBS

Hi I am a dentist in the North and plan to take up employment 1 day/week in the south in the near future. I have registered with the irish dental council, got my indemnity sorted and completing my application from the HSE to treat medical card pts under DTSS.
However I am having bother trying to register to treat PRSI pts under DTBS. can't seem to get a number or contact to request an application. i am aware that the prsi dental benefits are now almost non existant but think that i still probably have to register with the appropriate body. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction. A contact number would be great.

Also are there any other steps that i have missed? just found out i need to get a pps no.

You need a PPS number and tax clearance cert from Revenue too!

The application may cost you more than you will make given the state of publicly funded dentistry here!

I wouldn't bother with either the DTBS or DTSS schemes at the moment. They've both been shot to hell by the government, and DTBS in particular may result in unethical dentistry being performed.

Contact IDA house and join the IDA. They can help a lot with info regarding these applications. By the way, would your principal not help with this stuff?

As per previous post. call 1890 400 400. Though it only covers an exam. You wont even get that if the patient has already been examined in your practice within the last year.
As regards the IDA, membership is free when you are a new graduate so you might as well join. It may have some social benefits like cpd and golf. I wouldn't hold my breath as regards representing us with the state. latest advice is for both us and our patients to lobby our tds about the cuts! 800 well spent apparently!

Sit on a committee before you criticize digzy. Everyone is all too willing to criticize the IDA while saying what do they do for me? I'm going to JFK you on this one and say, what have you done for IDA?

Anyway, they are currently taking the government to court regarding the recent changes to the medical card scheme. So that's something. They couldn't take them to court over the PRSI changes because of some legal mumbo jumbo.

I thought the conference last weekend was excellent with a calibre of speaker you won't see anywhere else in the world this year under one roof.

I too, was like you when I first joined. Then I decided, feck it, I'll sit on a committee. I'm delighted so far, that I have. I have met so many excellent colleagues and learned a huge amount about the profession that I would rather sit on a committee than be an ordinary member. It's totally worth it. I've had a few job offers aswell
