I hope this is the correct place for my question.
Can I replace my lumpy, noisy and very expensive run flat tyres with standard ones. The wheels are standard BMW 320 alloys.

    I think you can use

    Goodyear 225/5017 NCT5 (94W) Non – runflat

But it would be wise to check with a good tyre company, in fact I wolud ask two different companies just to see if you get the same answer

Just remember you can't have a "run flat" and an standard tyre on the same axle. NCT failure.

Very popular (for handling and price reasons) with BMW Mini owners that originally had run flats.
I suppose you just need to invest in a can of tyre sealant and maybe a compressor, or a space saver spare if there's space provided.

So if you replace run flats with normal tyres, whats the story when its being nct tested?
One of the first things they check on a regular car is the thread on the spare in the boot.
So do you now HAVE TO get a spacesaver now or is ok to just carry a can of that sealent or a compressor?

No spare tyre is required to pass the NCT, but if there is one there it must be in servicable condition.

There are a few cars without runflats that don't come with a spare nowadays (weight saving). Mazda 6 and S-Max spring to mind.
