Gigs outside Dublin

    Hey,

We are a 5-peice alt-rock band called 'Bennett Vs Matrix' from Dublin. We have played a good few places in Dublin at this stage and want to start moving further a field.

If there are any bands doing gigs over the summer down the country anywhere and would like to organise a gig swap (you give us one, we'll give you one) or a gig share (both organise one together somewhere) then please PM me.

Here are links to some of our stuff on Facebook and Myspace:
    Facebook:

    Myspace:

We have well over an hour worth of original songs at our disposal so we can play almost any length set that you might have.

We look forward to hearing for other bands interested in this.

    Brian - Bennett Vs Matrix

Don't forget the promoters that are listed in the resources thread. There might be someone there who could sort you out.

Well, probably not the style your looking for, but im currently in a band in cork that is trying to get gigs around the country as opposed to just in cork,
we've all been away for the last year so the myspace is well outdated, and we are now a 4 peice and sound tighter / lighter than the music there.. take a look and hit me with a pm if you want.

    thanks for the replies everyone

we are still looking for more bands from both in Dublin and outside Dublin.

also if we get enough replies we might organise a mini tour or something where you could play a few gigs with us instead of just a once off thing. this would make it easier and cheaper than if a band was to go it alone

what you could try to do would be to book the venue outside dublin, and then offer the gig to local bands.. Means they dont have to do any work apart from bring people..

Yeah we're looking into this at the moment but we would also like to know that other bands are up for it so we don't hire a place and get a local band only to find nobody shows up... that would be a major let down! But as I said we are looking at this

unfortunately this is the harsh reality. Every gig outside of your hometown is a risk.. You need to figure a way to promote yourself before you go down, and not just leave it to the local act..

the first few times you play outside of dublin its gonna be tough..

you my friend have just said what we're talking about right now... how to promote yourself before you go down, and not just leave it to the local act... this is one of the major things on our minds at the moment and the only concrete things we've come up with are: get to local papers, onto local radios, and go down ourselves a week or so before the gig and promote that way as well as getting people we know to tell their friends.

one thing that is a pull factor for playing gigs in places is that we know people that live there so they can 'generate some hype' with people from where they live.

we know and understand that it's going to be touch at first with a limited fan base outside dublin but this only makes us more determined to get out there and do what we do best!
