Poor standard of driving on Buses

I have become increasingly alarmed at the poor driving that some bus drivers on one of the bus routes I often travel on.

In the last two occasions, the drivers keep mounting curbs when stopping at an offical stop, or let the tyre hit against the face of the tyre which could result in it being seriously damaged.

In addition, different drivers again, seem incapable of avoiding their side mirror colliding with something. It either ends up with the glass shattered, falling of the side, or completely snapped off.

Just some of the latest poor standard of driving I see from some drivers. Always on the same route but different drivers. Rarely use buses outside of that bar for getting around the city and its generally stop and start anyway.

Iv often heard drivers comment on other drivers damage to the bus when someone asks what happened.

Would have expected bus drivers to be more careful but it doesn't seem to be happening on the route I noticed anyway.

One day, their will be an accident due to the standard of driving. Its shocking.

ive noticed this too, more so from a passengar perspective, i live in an older area near a church, so there are often alot of older people on our bus route. twice in the last week ive asked drivers to slow down, they drive so fast around certain bends that people literally cannot walk down the aisle to disembark the bus, its dangerous, but especially bad for old people! the last driver i mentioned it to very politely told me that 'he didnt tell me how to do my job, so i was in no position to advise him how to do his!!'

Why dont you contact DB before someone gets injured?

Its nothing to do with Dublin Bus. Its Bus Eireann, but the point remains the same.

I will probably raise the matter to their attention, as it is pretty concerning and their have been accidents before due to similar driving (mounting a curb).

Agree with one of the other posters about drivers speed - many occasions its dodgy getting of the bus because they stop suddenly and then head off (both at speed) with little breathing room for the passanger!

driver on a 16 mounted the footpath at parnell street stop forcing people to jump for cover the other day! he was pulling in to the stop and imo had plenty of room but he thought otherwise!

there are bad drivers in every group, cars, truckers, taxi drivers buses etc.

And in fairness the general standard amoung bus drivers is quite high compared to most groups.

If its always the same route but different drivers it would suggest it's badly designed stops or roads causing the issue IMO

I actually have contacted DB about this in the past.
They assure me that all drivers get adequate training and have a duty of care to their passengars.....doesn't really seem that way when the oaps are rolling down the aisles on the way to mass tho!!

Firstly some of Dublin Bus drivers should get a good customer service training as they doesn't have one. Secondly if they doesn't like the job, quit and give the job to other competent people.
