Hi I am trying to decide whether to get an dell studio 15 or a dell studio xps 16 , I can configure both with almost the same specs ,

    Intel® Core™ i5-520M (2.4GHz,

    15.6" High Definition (1366x768) WLED

    1GB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD5470 Graphics Card

    4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]

500GB (5400RPM) Serial ATA Hard Drive

but I can get a 4 year on site warranty with the studio 15 and the standard warranty for the XPS for more or less the same money ,
Is the difference in quality on the XPS worth the extra money ? or has anyone any other suggestions , budget around €1000 ,

thanks in advance for any help .

The RGBLED screen alone on the XPS is worth the extra money, but I've had very bad experiences recently with Dell (Studio 15, i7-720). The only outtake fan on the laptop is blocked by the screen as it is opened, causing the laptop to overheat.

Probably won't happen at your specs (I had quad core after all) but I'd be hesitant to spend a grand with them.

Anything over two years of warranty on a laptop is a waste of money in my opinion. 99% of warranty-eligible faults would be visible within the first 18 months, and after that, you get enough protection from the law.

Are you pretty much set on going Dell, or would you like some alternatives?

P.S. : Go for a 7200RPM drive. Even a 320GB one. You'll thank yourself in the long run, and portable hard drives are really cheap if you want extra storage.

Is the RGBLED screen that amazing? I've heard a few people gettin all hot and bothered about it alright. Would it be a total waste to get the studio xps in the smaller 15.6"? It's a diference of €250 or so I think...
