Advice about reatives making financial demands

    Well, sort of.

    My partner (not married yet) is from Italy, where apparently there's a filial responsibility civil law, where there has a duty of care to the parent. Her parent is now making aggressive noises about coming over to demand support. They have a bad relationship, and my partner doesn't want this person in her life.

    We're going to a legal advice clinic to find out what our obligations are, but can we be sued here for an italian law? At this point we are considering barring/restraining orders.
