    In fairness he would have done more damage to the train had he been hit by it, those railcars would be written off in an accident:p.

    It's all about natural selection and the dopey ones eventually die out. In a couple of hundred years time people who live near the DART/Luas will have evolved with shorter arms and uninquisitive natures. :D

    The Sun article says.

    "He then stumbles away in shock - aware that if he was standing a foot to his right - he would certainly be dead"

    Also he would have been floating off the platform so if he could do that he's probably magic :D

    I would have just loved if the driver was aware of this and stopped the train with the jacks diectly over the pit. :D

    I always thought a mk 2 or mk 3 with no retention tanks would be nice.:D

    It appears that a substantial amount of ballast was scooped out from under the sleepers and track. That would eventually lead to a dip in the track as the surrounding ballast settled into the hole, and could cause a derailment. Hope its been filled and tamped since. :confused: Of course the clowns would be unaware of this. :mad::mad::mad:

    He was not on the platform.

    He was on the pedestrian level crossing, at track level -- this kind of accident (trainspotter or not) is why over or underpasses are preferred.

    For the pratt standing too close to an unprotected and open line,

    Network Rail Safety Video:

    And if old spotters want to be fcuking idots around the railways, they've much to learn from the teenagers:

    But just because you're wearing a Hi-vis, dosen't mean your safe;
